About S.S Simon & Jude School

The National Catholic Education Association's 2012-2013 logo proclaims the accomplishments and the continuing goal of all Catholic schools: To Raise the Standards. Those standards encompass academics, but even more importantly faith and morals. A Catholic school education is a high value, but does come with costs. The projected cost to educate a child at Saints Simon and Jude in the 2013-2014 school year is $5,400. However, our parish maintains a steadfast commitment to providing a high quality Catholic education and families who desire a Catholic school education for their child do not have to shoulder the financial burden totally on their own. As you examine the tuition numbers provided in this correspondence, you will see that the parish provides œscholarship assistance to all children of parish members. This assistance is possible because of your and every parishioner's weekly tithe, as well as by donations given for the support of our school.
We recognize that the current economy may continue to have a negative impact on your resources, and thus on our parish revenues. Our goal is to continue to balance our parish financial resources across all ministries by decreasing the amount of parish subsidy to the school, and yet still keep tuition at a reasonable level. It is in the context of that goal that next year's tuition schedule was developed. To assist you in meeting the tuition payments within your family budget we are pleased to make available several options which you will find delineated in more detail under the chart of tuition costs.
In brief, we recommend that you pay tuition using our Automatic Funds Withdrawal Program (ACH) as it makes budgeting easier for you and us. You may choose 10 monthly payments (August through May) to be withdrawn on either the 15th or 30th of the month. If you have 2 or more children in SSJ in K to 8, we can arrange a 20 payment schedule with payments made on the 15th and 30th . (The 10 monthly payments may also be paid by credit card or debit card. This option would be arranged with our financial secretary, Mary Kay Lack, at the rectory.)
You may also choose Semi-Annual or Annual payments by automatic funds withdrawal, check, cash, credit or debit cards.
*Reminder: Current families re-registering their children must complete a new Automatic Funds Withdrawal Form every school year. (Forms are included with your Re-Registration form and are available on the website under Forms)
Financial supports available to help with the tuition costs:
1. The SCRIP program is available online with no limit to the amount of money a family can earn towards tuition credit. Many businesses offer SCRIP and a percentage of your purchases will be credited directly toward your child's tuition. Details for this program are available from school personnel and on the school website www.simonandjude.org (click on parish school).
2. Any family who brings a new family to the school for grades 2 through 6 will receive a $500.00 tuition credit. We encourage families to help us market our outstanding school, and we extend this offer as a token of appreciation for making the introduction to a new family.
3. Families who need financial support to meet the tuition cost should complete the BLOCS and/or SSJ Catholic School Education Fund application(s). The forms are available from the school or on the school website under Forms. The BLOCS application may also be downloaded at www.blocs.org. If applying for BLOCS grant, a copy must be mailed to the company (in accordance with the application directions), and a second copy sent to school, marked Confidential ~ Attention: Sr. Jeannine. We recommend retaining a copy for your own personal records. If you are completing the SSJ CSEF application, the copy is sent only to SSJ.
