Tuition Assistance and Scholarships

Each family with more than one child enrolled in the IHC school system receives a multiple-student discount, as reflected in the table above. The discount at the High School level is $350; at Junior High it is $300; and at the Elementary it is $250. If a family has three or more children in any one school -- the Elementary School, or the Junior/Senior High School -- the family pays only 50% of the third child\'s tuition and 0% for any additional children. While this is already among the most generous multiple student discounts among Catholic Schools in New York, the IHC Education Council voted in March 2012 to create a simplified policy so families with multiple children anywhere in the IHC system are eligible for discounts. The Council will announce a plan soon to involve parents in the new policy\'s development.

Pre-Payment Discount. A $50 discount is availablefor each tuition paid in full by July 15th.

Many financial aid and scholarship opportunities are available. Many financial aid and scholarship opportunities are available. Parents can complete a family-wide, confidential needs assessment, which will be evaluated by an independent agency - the same process used by virtually all colleges and universities.

Applications for Scholarships for New IHC Students for the 2012-2013 School Year are Online. IHC has two scholarship programs (<--click)specifically for families who have never previously had a student enrolled at IHC: (1) full-tuition for new 7th graders whose family has never had a student in IHC but want to give IHC a try (<--click) ; and (2) the IHC \"100 Stars\" Full-Tuition Scholarship Fund for new students with scholastic potential and demonstrated financial need who would like to attend our Elementary School (<--click) or Junior/Senior High School (<--click).

About Our Tuition Rates

In determining our 2012-2013 tuition rates, IHC developed a budget aimed at the following goals:

Maintain affordable tuition while expanding the availability of financial aid and scholarships.
Attract and retain highly qualified faculty and staff.
Increase the investment in a holistic technology plan tied to student achievement.
Ensure the safety and quality of IHC\'s facilities.
Strengthen IHC\'s financial viability and sustainability by enabling rapid growth of non-tuition revenue.

IHC\'s tuition rates are among the lowest in New York state, particularly in areas economically similar to Greater Watertown. They remain several thousand dollars below our per-pupil costs. This reflects the shared responsibility and commitment of parents, the Church, alumni, benefactors, and the local community.

While New York State\'s fiscal crisis hit our public schools hard last year, and the sluggish economy has also impacted IHC, we have \"held the line\" to uphold the quality of our programs:

IHC has not cut a single teaching position - in fact, we have added teachers.
IHC has not cut a single academic program -- in fact, we have added four new courses at the High School.
IHC has not cut a single athletic program or extracurricular activity - in fact, we have added activities.

In addition, at the start of school year 2010-2011, out Education Council created an office to shore-up IHC\'s financial future, build fundraising capacity, and create an endowment, among other responsibilities. To date, the combined efforts of this new office and the Principals have allowed us to keep tuition down while achieving results that allow us to continue building value in our programs:

IHC fundraising has more than tripled in the last 18 months.
IHC\'s first Annual Fund is showing a near-100% growth rate. The first \"true\" Annual Fund, such as those conducted by universities and other private schools, will run from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013 and set the stage for a multi-year endowment capital campaign.
IHC has won more than $60,000 in grants in the last 18 months, allowing us to create new courses, integrate technology, and improve our facilities.
The revenue achieved through these efforts has already exceeded the costs of the new office created last year.
