About Green Fields Country Day School

Tuition and Fees

Tuition is Green Fields' primary source of revenue. It is used to pay high-quality teachers, coaches and administrators, maintain and improve our historic 22-acre campus, and fund the many enriching programs and experiences that make our school unique.

Tuition is established each year by the Board of Trustees, which makes every effort to keep rates as affordable as possible while still meeting budgetary requirements. Central to our mission is the belief that independent education should be available to as many families as possible, and that socioeconomic diversity strengthens our community. Therefore, Green Fields offers a generous need-based Financial Aid program that in recent years has provided assistance to approximately 40 percent of our families.

Tuition for the 2011-2012 school year is as follows:

Grades K-5: $9,500
Grades 6-8: $13,750
Grades 9-12: $14,200

Families should also budget for a few additional costs including books, supplies, a Technology fee, the one-week Interim program, Before School and After School Care (if used), and some field trips. For specific information on tuition and payment plans, please contact the Admissions Office.

Financial Aid

Green Fields has offered a financial aid program to its families since the school's founding in 1933. As a way to maintain the socio-economic diversity of the student body, need-based financial aid is an integral part of the school's philosophy. Assistance is available for students in kindergarten through grade twelve.

Financial aid is offered without regard to race, color, religion, sexual orientation or ethnic origin. Applying for financial aid does not influence the decision to admit a child to the school; admission is based solely on academic merit and each child's personal qualities.

Families applying for need-based financial assistance must request and complete a financial disclosure form. (We use NAIS\' School and Student Services (SSS) to process the financial aid applications. SSS is an independent evaluator that assists schools in making financial aid decisions by providing a common base by which each family's need can be measured fairly and equitably.) These forms are submitted directly to SSS. Requests for financial aid are held in strict confidence and are acted upon by a special Financial Assistance Committee after the student has been admitted to the school.
