About Cedarcrest School

Enrollment
The Cedarcrest School accepts inquiries from parents and school district representatives with the informed consent of the parents of a student. Parents are encouraged to discuss their interest with their child's IEP team prior to contacting the Cedarcrest School.

Once a referral is made, the child's family and IEP team will be invited to meet with staff and tour the classroom and facility. Our application process includes:

A review of the child's current IEP and recent assessments
A visit to his/her current school program
A review of the child's education, therapy and medical care needs.

Cedarcrest Center's admissions team will then review the information and make a determination of the appropriateness of the placement. Once accepted, a meeting with the IEP team to finalize a school plan is held.

Tuition
Tuition rates have been established by the New Hampshire Department of Education. The child's home school district is responsible for tuition as well as the cost of related services, transportation (for day education students) and one-to-one education support if identified through the child's IEP.

The state approved Cedarcrest School provides an education program to both residents of Cedarcrest Center and local students.

The educational staff strive to provide a structured, consistent and safe learning environment. Each student is encouraged to develop to his/her own potential. The staff work in partnership with the family and sending school district representatives to formulate the educational program.

The content of the school program is based on New Hampshire\'s Curriculum Frameworks. Each child\'s program is then adapted to reflect the specific goals developed for his/her Individualized Education Program (IEP). The school day includes typical school activities such as calendar, morning news, math, literature and science, but it all looks different with adapted tactile cues and switches that can be activated with motion.

Therapies are integrated into the child\'s program and may include individualized and group sessions, music and movement or even therapeutic horse back riding off-site at a local equine center.

The child\'s educational program may include sensory, large motor, fine motor, communication, cognition and activities of daily living. Use of adapted equipment "standers, gait trainers, mobile standers and bikes "is a regular part of our education/therapy program.

The program is complemented by community integration and enrichment activities.
