About Spring Run School - Center for Educational Advancement

MISSION
The mission of the Spring Run School is to provide a fully accessible, therapeutic educational environment where adolescents and young adults with disabilities can reach their maximum potential as assertive, responsible, resilient citizens. Using our unique on-site vocational facility, we also strive to prepare our students for a full and independent life using hands-on career exploration and training in our five career centers and intensive training program.

PROGRAM
Students remain under the overall supervision of their sending school district through the student's case manager. The IEP developed by the sending district, the parent/guardian, the student and Spring Run staff serves as the roadmap for the student's activities at the school and our parent agency, the Center for Educational Advancement.

Generally, a student's program consists of four hours of student-centered academic instruction and two hours of career exploration and readiness activities in the agency's career clusters or competitive employment job sampling in the local community. Students receive a modest monetary stipend for their participation in the career activities. Students also receive physical education/health instruction, driver education, and daily group counseling. If indicated in the IEP, students are also eligible for individual/small group speech and language instruction and individual counseling. Additional activities such as extended classroom experiences, therapeutic art, ceramics, food preparation, photography, practical life skills, and remedial computer instruction are incorporated into the program.
