The Montessori Academy of New Tampa opened in 2003 and offers education for children ages 12 months through 4 years old. Newly renovated classrooms offer multi-age levels, a highly enriched environment with hands-on Montessori materials, fully accredited staff, and extended day programs. Children progress at their own pace through sequential materials in all academic areas including Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, Science, Geography, History, and more. Foreign Language classes in Spanish and Chinese help our students learn an appreciation for different cultures and dialects. Our staff provides essential support, encouragement, direction and attention to each child\'s special learning capabilities and needs. The curriculum stresses the \"sensitive periods\" for learning in which each child has a window of opportunity in which to learn a specific skill. A recent study in the \"Journal of Science\" found that the majority of Montessori students were more advanced academically, socially, and emotionally when compared to other children who were taught in traditional educational systems. Montessori educates the total child and gives him/her all the tools needed for a successful life.
