About Kayne Eras Center

K-12 School
The Kayne Eras Center (KEC) operates a state certified, non-public school for youth ages 5 to 22 who are having difficulty functioning in the public school system due to developmental delays, learning disabilities, emotional or behavior challenges, and/or health impairments.

The school serves more than 200 students in elementary, middle and high school. Classrooms offer a low student-to-instructor ratio of 5:1.

The goal of our school is to give students the tools they need to successfully make the transition into the mainstream: work, school or independent living. The school helps children and young adults grow intellectually, socially and emotionally, while letting them discover their unique potential. To achieve these goals, we employ a host of on-site professionals and therapeutic regimens to serve each child with private or non-public funding.

At KEC, our credentialed teachers and diagnostic/therapeutic staff:
Assess each student\'s level of learning
Determine the most effective teaching/learning approach
Design a program that starts where the student feels successful and builds from that critical point
Continue to evaluate through instruction
Facilitate communication between the student, the family, the school and other involved professionals

In addition, KEC offers:
Therapeutic arts and enrichment activities that help our youngsters develop self-esteem, physical coordination, social skills, self-expression, a sense of exploration and a sense of teamwork.
Individualized educational therapy and support - an intervention to develop alternative strategies for addressing learning problems for those who are unable to learn by traditional methods.
Weekly group and individual counseling.
Adaptive courses that make physical education accessible to students with a variety of physical limitations. Adaptive PE provides an outlet for excess physical and emotional energy, helping students demonstrate more self-discipline in the classroom.

Students who are succeeding may begin dual enrollment through part-time attendance at a public school. If they can maintain at least a B average and their behavior is consistent and positive for at least two semesters, they gradually transition back to full-time attendance at the public school.

Enrollment at Kayne Eras Center is a finely tuned match between the student and Kayne Eras environment. Students who have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) from a local school district and who qualify for Non-Public School (NPS) Funding are welcome to consider the program, as are private students.

Open tours of the facility and school are offered regularly. Please contact Iris Salinas at 310-737-9393 for more information.
