Bais Yaakov, founded in 1942, started with 1 teacher and 2 students.
Bais Yaakov has a 70 year history of educating young women with strong Jewish identities, virtues, and values. Bais Yaakov has graduated more than 2,200 alumnae.
Bais Yaakov currently has 1,335 students, grades pre-K through 12 from over 760 families.
With more than 325 faculty and staff, the school has enormous resources to benefit our students.
Bais Yaakov is the largest private school in the state of Maryland. It is also one of the largest Jewish girls day schools in the world.
The Pre-School and Elementary School are located in a 60,000 square foot building on a 46 acre campus located on Park Heights Avenue in Owings Mills. This campus was acquired in 1977, when the enrollment of all three divisions was 500. Within only 7 years, two additions were made to this building to handle the rapidly growing enrollment.
The Middle School and High School are located on a 26 acre campus on Smith Avenue in Mt. Washington. The Middle School building is 37,000 square feet in size, and the High School has 88,000 square feet. Construction and renovations were completed in 2003.
Tuition for the 2010-2011 school year is $7,855 for grades 1, and $9,585 for grade 9.
The total operating budget for the 2010-2011 school year is approximately $10,000,000. Costs per student is approximately $7,490 which is very low in comparison to other private schools and lower than the Maryland public school rate of $11,377 average spending per student. This is noteworthy as Bais Yaakov provides a dual curriculum of Judaic and secular studies for this low cost.
Substantial amounts of scholarships are required in order to provide necessary tuition assistance to families in need.
