About Schwartz Center For Children

The Schwartz Center for Children operates a year round private Day School, approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a special education school, designed to serve students ages 3 to 21 years old, with multiple disabilities and complex medical needs. Diagnoses of our students include, but are not limited to: physical and developmental disabilities, communication disorders, autism, sensory-motor delays, and a variety of other conditions.

We have a long standing reputation in the community as a provider of exceptional educational and therapeutic services for children with special needs. Our caring staff includes special education teachers and aides, nurses, and licensed therapeutic staff in the areas of speech/language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and sensory integration. Services that are available to our Day School students in addition to an individualized educational curriculum include:

Classroom and one-on-one therapy
Access to our Pediatric Specialty Clinics
Nursing services
Living skills for transition to adulthood
Therapeutic horseback riding at local farms
Aquatic therapy in our pool
Field trips
After school programs

The Day School staff works closely with local school districts and families to ensure a service plan that is uniquely tailored to each child. Our goal is to work together to maximize a child's independence and help them achieve their greatest potential.

We strive to make our school a true community - bringing parents and students together for social and educational activities. We offer a Parent Advisory Council and welcome new ideas and suggestions from families about our program and service offerings.

The Schwartz Center for Children Day School serves children from across Southeastern Massachusetts and operates 226 days per year. The professional and paraprofessional staff to student ratio is 1:3.
